During the Calypso season, the Calypso tents are a major attraction with each tent having a number of calypsonians who organise a string of shows which lead into the main calypso competition.
Each group introduce their songs for the current year and the vibrant high-energy atmosphere in these tents encourage maximum participation from the audience who in turn offers commentary on people's acceptance or rejection of the talents. The cricket season adds to an increase in activities between different communities.

The month of February on the island begins with preparations for the carnival which is a pageant event involving various activities throughout the island. Many camps are organised for costume production for various shows and street parades. Individual group costumes are designed for band members under the instruction of designers and band leaders. Calypso tents come alive with contenders for the "King" and "Queen" crowns. February is a short yet fun-filled month on the island.
The island witnesses the traditional Lent period during the month of March. This much calmer tropical weather provides opportunity for many marine based activities.

The holy week in the St. Lucian calender comprises of the most solemn period of the year.
The presiding Catholic traditions are most obvious during this time specially on Good Friday which is a day of church services with curtailment from pleasurable activities. The meal on this day consists of "Akwa" or fish cake and pain d' espices (penepis), a thin oval biscuit. Easter Sunday is similar to Christmas day with church services and exchange of gifts. After a 40-day period of solemnity and abstinence, the end of Lent season is commemorated with dates and banquets.

The Fisherman's Feast opens with a church service followed by the blessing of brightly decorated boats and boat sheds on the beaches.
The entire day and night is filled with feasting and partying until wee morning. During St. Lucia Squash Open, world famous squash players come together with beginners for an event that bears a casual appearance but is in fact, a quite competitive event.
. Children's Safari Summer takes place during this period of the year on the island. This event brings local and visiting children between the ages 5 to 18 together in order to learn about environment, nature, folk traditions and history of St. Lucia. Activities include birdwatching, photography, canoeing, craft-making and hiking. This traditional period of holiday for students include:

The market vendors celebrate their feast day with a religious service in succession with a festival of food, dance, song and general festivity in the island's various markets. The Castries market is mostly the main center of activities.
The Rose Festival celebrates the rose with great grandeur and ceremony. This festival includes a royal kingdom including king, queen, dignitaries and loyal subjects. A huge party is organised irrespective of the magnitude of expense. The Market Vendor's Feast represents vivid cultural expressions on the island.

St. Lucians come together with kweyol speaking people around the world in solidarity and in celebration of their exciting similar culture on this International Creole Day. Special activities include exhibitions of traditional crafts, folklore and traditional food. Jounen Kweyol is celebrated amongst different communities where kweyol speaking people come together to enjoy traditional food, folklore and other traditional exhibitions.

St. Lucians remember the departed, on All Soul's Day by keeping a vigil lamp burning in their homes, by decorating cemeteries, by repainting tombs and by
laying fresh flowers and wreaths on the graves of their loved ones. The Remembrance Day honours those who died fighting the two world wars. On this day, people place wreaths on the graves of the martyrs and organise ceremonial parades and parties. Poppies and stickers are also sold to support families of ex-servicemen. St. Cecilia's Day is commemorated in the honour of patron saint of music and musicians. This day includes a church service, street music and sporting events for musicians. During ARC, a major yacht event boaters take the pleasure of fine facilities available for yachters.

A month long festival marks the month of December in St. Lucia. This month revolves around the celebration of the National Day and Christmas celebrations.
The crux of the National Day lies in building pride for the country. This day is celebrated by sporting events, cultural, religious , social and commercial activities like the Festival of Lights. The Festival of Lights presents lantern-making competitions and it also includes decoration of towns and villages with lights. Other events such as the National festival choirs, a festival of bands and a market festival similar to market vendors' feast day also highlight the celebrations.

Introductory figures released by the St. Lucia Tourist Board show that the number of tourist stopover, arrivals i.e. persons staying 24 hours or more, increased by 10% in May 2008 which counted up to 27,782 visitors compared to 25,212 visitors who arrived in May 2007.
