WEDDING

Already well known for his breathtaking scenery and rich tropical beauty, St Lucia is highly esteemed for a romantic escape and wedding and honeymoon destination. Special facilities for couples getting married on the island are provided by most of the hotels in St. Lucia. Some hotels also provide a suite or a private room for a wedding ceremony according to the couple's preference. The hotel also takes responsibility for requirements such as bridal bouquet, music, videos, photos, wedding cake and champagne toast for the bride and bridegroom.

 

They also provide services for the best man if required. Upon arrival, honeymooners receive special treatment in most hotels with a warm welcome consisting of a basket of fruit and flowers or a bottle of chilled wine. Anse Chastanet, Club St. Lucia, Green Parrot Inn, Royal St. Lucian, Sandals Halcyon, Rex St. Lucian and Windjammer are some of the hotels offering special wedding packages.

Documents Required

In order to wed on the island, it is obligatory to submit following original documents personally before the local registrar. Foreign documents must however be translated into English.

. Passport
. Birth Certificate
. If one of the parties is divorced, a Proof of Absolute needs to be produced.
. In case of a widow / widower, a death certificate has to be produced.
. If a name has been changed, a Deed Pool is required.
. If one of the parties is under 18 years of age, evidence of parental consent in form of a notarized sworn affidavit is needed.

Residency

To be married in St. Lucia an application must be made by a local solicitor to the Attorney General who in turn will issue a marriage license after a two-day residency period. The processing of the application takes two working days.

Fees

Following fees are required to be paid :-
. If one has been residing on the island for 7 days before marriage, then notarial fees and marriage licence fees of EC$ 335.00 must be paid. However if one has been living less than 7 days before marriage, then the fee for marriage licence will amount to EC$ 540.00
. Registrar Fees which costs EC$ 100.00
. Marriage Certificate costs EC$ 8.00

Note: It is possible to get married on the fifth day of arrival on the island if the procedures mentioned above are followed. Church weddings can be arranged for most designations in advance.
